Kløve & Ko have some really beautiful teak swings for purchase. You can get the single or the tandem Wave Swings here. They make a rather nice little table and chair set to boot.
A fellow parent and blogger has been nominated for a 2009 Bloggie under the The Best-Kept Secret Weblog category. Voting ends on Monday so go cast your vote!
Her blog Pistols and Popcorn is a funny and honest journal about life in brooklyn with a 5 year old. She tackles all the life questions, funny situations and observations that surround her family and those around her. Her posts are full of wit and charm which makes her nomination even more deserved. Good luck Jodi.
Coordonne has a pretty amazing textile collection for kids. One of my clients is very traditional in her style but we agreed to meet half-way in our approach to her nursery. That's why I really like the Lullaby collection. From a distance it looks traditional but when you look closer it's got a rather funky little golden print. (via decopeques)
So the amazing Alissia Melka-Teichroew of BY:AMT (who just so happened to design my wedding ring) and Ilona Huvenaars designed this Soft Tree Trunk Stool that just got picked up by Kikkerland. How great would these be in a playspace? Go Alissia, go Alissia!
In searching for a new lunch box, I stumbled upon these interesting little numbers. First up is the Aladdin Lunch & Go box. Second is the boldly colored BBib Lunchbox. But don't get me wrong, my daughter is still in love with the Food for Thought box!
It's hard to believe this child sized t-shirt is hand embroidered. When you get even closer, it's actually quite a funny shirt as well. Rightly titled Hungry Whale, the front of the shirt shows you the sailors. The back shows you what's inside the whales belly.....and perhaps why the sailors are so surly! Available at Estella.
is a line of handmade leather goods for children. In the Zuny Series, there are a ton of colorful animal bookends that would work so well in a kid's room! In the Zuny Classic Series, they too offer animal bookends but with a more traditional aesthetic. Super cute. (via)
With little time and mounting pressures, parents will find a short visit to The K-5 invaluable. Through theshort videos, ask the specialist (Ask the K5) columns and on-going blogs (The K5 News) with tips from real-life teachers, specialists and parents, they will find sound advice and helpful tips on subjects as varied as reading, writing, math, discipline, homework, home-life, nutrition and more: information and resources to make their children’s education a strong foundation for life.
The amazingly spirited and passionate Otis Kriegel is the founder of The K5. He also happens to be be one of the best elementary teachers in Manhattan with 15 years experience in community education and the arts. I have been very hard pressed to find a resource like this that actually addresses important issues. Issues like homework, discipline, reading comprehension, tips on getting out of the house on time, food allergies....etc. Issues that every parent with an elementary aged child goes through, thinks, seeks or needs at little guidance with. The site is only but a pup but I expect great things ahead. It's off to a pretty impressive start!

LittleBig has this awesome ShapeMaker block game for purchase.
I like all of these options for book/toy storage for kid's space. They are this 9-cube metal shelving system from CB2 and Chicken Coup and Wright's Peak wire storage unit from Sundance.
I am uncertain who PNAU is. Perhaps a bit more research is in order. This video and song is pretty catchy though. And yes, it contains God talk. Do any of my readers have any more info? (via phlods ur boat)
The amazing duo over at KOKO Architecture created a Danish and Finnish wonderland for the mini's over at the More North Scandinavian Art and Design Gallery in NYC. I really love the use of birch and modern play of nature through-out the space. Bravo!
Introducing Yummyfun Kooking with Yummy Clare. It's perhaps the most imaginative cooking show i've ever seen for kids. As of now, it's a DVD series with just three episodes ("Spring has Sprung", "Monkeying Around in the Kitchen" and "Spookyfun"). It even comes with party ideas and recipes in the booklet. The music is super fun as well. I would not be surprised if we did not see more of Yummy Clare in 2009! You can purchase it on-line here or if you are in NYC you can grab yourself a copy at The Whitney.
Perhaps she can sprinkle her dust over the tree stump in my front yard and turn it into a money tree ..... because that's what I would need in order to afford this light in the first place.
"Full Tank is the first to offer spoon-free frozen baby food called Baby Fuel(TM). Baby Fuel's revolutionary packaging is the first baby food designed to travel. Baby Fuel can fit easily into a pocket, diaper bag or purse and can be eaten without a spoon - frozen or defrosted. The packaging even allows older babies to feed themselves." A boy (Mika age 6) and a girl (Anna-Lena age 5) wanted to elope in the sunshine in Africa. So after a long New Years eve, the pair snuck out and headed for the train station. Although they had no passports or money, the love birds knew that they needed a witness to get hitched. The last addition to the operation was Anna-Lena's 7 year old sister. They got as far as the airport before the police got wise to the trio and offered them a free tour of the police station. The last two lines of this story are the best : Although any marriage plans have been put on hold for now, police did not altogether rule out the possibility of an African wedding. "They can still put their plan into action at a later date," AFP quoted the spokesman as saying.
Classic, funny and cause for premature gray. You can read the entire story HERE.
Jelte van Geest designed the GrandChair with two people in mind ..... grandparent and grandchild. At first glance it looks like a nice long rocking bench. However, if you lift the smaller seat in the bench and rotate it 180 degrees, it faces the other. This connection, while sitting side by side or facing each other, gives way to many hours of story telling and memories.
Söderberg sisters Johanna and Klara make up the band First Aid Kit. They hail from Enskede, a suburb south of Stockholm. They claim that Klara was given her first guitar at age 13 although it would seem as though they were born to sing and play...together.
